Parents Share Pictures of Baby Girl with an Inoperable Brain Tumour

This heartbreaking story is one that the parents wished they didn’t have to bear, but they have chosen to share their precious professional photos to celebrate the life of their baby girl Abigail.

Erika and Stephen Jones of Florida are the parents of beautiful Baby Abigail who was born on August 6 weighing under 4kg.

As the parents-to-be anticipated their new arrival, they were told their baby showed multiple markers for Down Syndrome at their 18 week scan. Even more heartbreaking news was to be delivered at their 30 week scan which showed a tumour growing inside their daughter’s brain which had replaced her brain tissue.

Erika went on to give birth to baby Abigail Noelle Jones who arrived with a full head of hair.

“Our expectation was that we wouldn’t have much time with Abigail after she was born, but our hearts leapt with joy when a beautiful pink baby girl came out screaming (and pooping!),” the couple wrote.

“She is moving, nursing, squawking, sticking out her tongue, opening her eyes, holding our fingers, and doing all things a baby does. She has blown us away and surpassed every expectation.”

Unfortunately the brain tumour is inoperable and Abigail is too young to survive chemotherapy. Erika and Stephen have taken their daughter home to ‘cover her in love’ in the final weeks or months of her life.

“It feels like we are living someone else’s life, some other family that you read about on the news. We don’t want to lose our daughter.” Erika told the

Photographer Mary Huszcza from Jacksonville, Florida, has taken these beautiful family images to celebrate the life of Abigail.

Erika admits their faith has kept them going.

“God has blessed us with countless precious moments that we did not think we would have. He will keep us standing and moving forward.”
