The Mirror reported a mother named Erika Tomassian was found dead in a seated position on the floor of her Hollywood apartment on Monday afternoon.

Neighbors to the apartment reported hearing sounds of a child crying in the apartment.

Firefighters broke into the apartment to find the body of Erika as well her one year old son Michael, strapped into his chair nearby who had choked to death on food. Erika also had a two year old son, Nathan, who was the child that had been heard crying. He was found wandering the apartment dehydrated and crying because he was hungry.

The cause of death is unclear for Ms Tomassian, but authorities have ruled out foul play.

Nathan has been taken to hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

The tragic story brings an ache to my mother heart to think it took a couple of days for neighbors to check in on the solo mum. The mum had recently adopted the brothers and was raising them alone. It is thought that Nathan had been wandering the apartment for two days with his deceased mum and brother in the apartment.

An awful story to write, but an important message for all us mums to check in with each other regularly. Especially with neighbors.

Solo parents do an amazing job and this kind of tragedy could happen to anyone.

Often we can be so busy with life that we forget there are people living side by side to us who may be going through a tough time. Let’s look out for each other.
