If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a foster carer, former MasterChef contestant, Jules Allen will be able to tell you.

The proud single mum of four grown children has cared for 31 foster children over the past 12 years.

Jules has a lot of parenting advice to give due to her extensive experience of not only raising her own children but also being a foster parent.

It’s with this experience and philosophy of ‘the more you give back, the more you get back’, Jules has been announced as the Brand Ambassador for Key Assets Australia.

Key Assets Australia is a leading children’s services provider with more than 20 years’ experience in supporting foster carers and young people in care. The group was founded in Australia in 2007 and provides fostering services in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and Victoria.

The Executive Director, Rob Ryan of Key Assets Australasia says, “Jules has fostered 31 children and speaks passionately of the care and protection of children in need. Jules is a great role model for foster carers and will help lift the profile of foster caring in Australia.

“We are in desperate need of more foster carers in Australia. There are more than 43,000 children in need of care and protection and this number has been increasing over the past 10 years, but the level of carers is in decline.”

Key Assets hopes this new partnership will allow Jules to share her own experiences to inspire people to become foster carers.

“We hope this partnership with Jules will give everyone a view into her fostering journey and inspire people to make a difference to lives of children in need by becoming a foster carer.” explained Mr Ryan.

Jules is just as thrilled to be made an ambassador and as part of her role, she will help Key Assets launch ‘A Taste of Fostering’, a cook book to bring families together cooking, sharing the experiences from foster carers across Australia.

“Over the many years of fostering children, I have come to understand that food is one of the greatest healing tools. It consistently provides a sense of comfort and security for these young ones that they may not have known. It is flawless!

“I’m very excited to be partnering with Key Assets and I look forward to helping them launch ‘A Taste of Fostering’ later this year,” Jules said.
