None of us could imagine how Rin Norris and Anthony Maslin felt when their lives were changed forever after losing their children on board the MH17 plane disaster. But they have miraculously found strength to overcome hate with love and have announced the beautiful arrival of their daughter Violet May Maslin.
In a statement to Channel Nine News, the couple said, “We believe that Mo, whose 14th birthday was Saturday, Evie, 12 next week, Otis, 10 next month, and Grandad Nick have sent us an amazing gift. Violet’s birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate,” they said in a statement.
“We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness. As Martin Luther King said, ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that’.”
The couple’s three young children Mo, Evie, Otis and their grandfather Nick were killed when they flew home on the Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17, which was blown out of the sky by Russian-made Buk surface-to-air missile. Their grandfather was taking the children home to Perth, so their parents could stay on in Amsterdam.
“We will continue to love all four of our children equally. Violet brings some hope and joy for us. We hope she brings hope and joy for you too.”
We Congratulate the family on their new addition and pray for hope and love to surround them as they deal with the after effects of the disaster.
