When was the last time you did something kind for others?

Sometimes we can be so busy, looking after our brood and sorting out our own problems, that we forget how easy it is to be kind to someone else, for no reason than to simply make their day.

A young girl named Cassidy did this last Friday to a stranger, Louise Sharp.

Sharp shared her encounter on the Love What Matters Facebook page, and the random act of kindness has inspired others.

Sharp explains she was out and about when she heard someone shout out to her. She expected someone was yelling at her because she had dropped something, but instead it was an 8 or 9 year old girl who handed Sharp a bunch of daffodils, a chocolate bunny and a handwritten note that read, “These are for you.”

When Sharp asked the little girl why she was being handed the gifts, the little girl responded, “Because you’re special, and people need to be told they’re special. And we all need to be kind to each other. So these are off me and my Granddad.”

Sharp was so overwhelmed by the kindness. She read the note later and shared the note and her encounter on Facebook, hoping in some way to thank the little girl and her grandpa for their kindness.

“Completely gobsmacked, I thanked her and told her she’s extremely kind and that makes her special too. I doubt you’ll see this, but I’ve just read the note properly and found your name and thank you so much Cassidy and Grandad,” wrote Sharp.

What a joy it is to be on the receiving end of unexpected kindness, but how wonderful to be a distributor of it too.

We all have the power to randomly help someone, whether in need or not.

And what a wonderful example of an older generation teaching the young how to bless others in a simple way.

Sharp ended her post by saying, “You’ve just completely made my day, if not my year you inspirational girl and I’ll keep the note forever and look at it every time I feel I’m having a difficult day. And you’re right, we absolutely do.”
