Model Shares Honest Post About Post-Birth Body

Every week, there is news of a celebrity mum who has given birth and whittled herself down to her pre-birth weight.

Most of us mums know that every body is different and for most women, it’s not possible to just lose the belly quickly after giving birth.

One mum, also a model and star on the US version of Dancing With The Stars, has shared a picture on Instagram eight days after giving birth.

Peta Murgatroyd gave birth to son Shai Aleksander earlier this year. She shared her photo in the hope to encourage women that it’s a myth to ‘bounce back’ after birth and the importance of being honest about post-baby bodies.

The post read: “Real life: I took this photo 8 days post birth,” she captioned the gorgeous photo. “I left the hospital looking 5 months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most. The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it’s time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey.”
