Instagram Filters are the Latest Baby Name Inspiration for Parents

Choosing a unique name for a baby can be a competition most soon-to-be parents won’t admit. The latest baby name inspiration has surprised many, and comes from a source we use nearly every day.

Babycenter.com recently held a survey that was filled out by more than 340,000 parents and they were able to discover the most popular baby names for 2015.

What was surprising from the data was the amount of parents naming their baby after an Instagram filter.

The Instagram names didn’t make the top 10, but the trend has gained momentum over the last year.

The top baby name, inspired by a filter on the popular photo sharing app was Lux.

From there the baby names filtered through in popularity which included Amaro, Reyes, Hudson, Kelvin, Valencia and Willow.

There was a 75 per cent increase of Instagram filter names for baby boys this year.

Ludwig was up 42 per cent as a preferred name for a boy, and Juno rose through the baby name ranks by 30 per cent as the most popular girl name.

Who knows what these babies will think when they realise they were named after a popular social media filter!
